... South Africa - Unique experience of horseriding to the
Cape...
| At the conclusion of a visit in our guides and friends of the safari " Big Five " and in the discovery of our new safari Songimvelo, we dedicated some days to our new pony trek in the region of the Cape of Good Hope, which lends itself particularly well to an extension before or after a safari on horseback.
We were very pleasantly surprised and seduced by the force of these landscapes, the power of elements, the wild areas which we did not expect in the region the most "civilized" by South Africa.
In every stage, the meeting with characters who have in heart to make you share the love of their profession and their region, often by opening you the doors of their private houses, add a supplement of soul to a ride which is polished up in its slightest details, at the same moment in the choice of the crossed landscapes, the accommodations, the horses, the very steady equestrian rhythm...
Transfers in minibus between the various stages (see map below) allow to concentrate rides on the natural sites the most surprising and most varied by the region, assuring a program without any injury time, with rides in totally different landscapes every day.Les transferts en minibus entre les différentes étapes (voir carte ci-dessous) permettent de concentrer les chevauchées sur les sites naturels les plus étonnants et les plus variés de la région, assurant un programme sans aucun temps mort, avec des randonnées dans des paysages totalement différents chaque jour.Get ready to take it " height eyes "!

From our arrival to the Cape, after a bend by the panoramic road which goes along the West coast of the Peninsula, we are in the atmosphere of this ride: a dive in the heart of the South African art of living, which finds its highlight and all its variety in the region of the Cape.The house which welcomes us for our first stage is a magnificent example of the architecture " Cape Dutch ", a house of dreamed family where the time seems to have stopped.

We do not linger for a long time in our perfect house
because the immense beach of Noordhoek waits us, quite close, with its
infinite areas of sand in for whiteness brilliant dominated by the abrupt
peaks of the Peninsula.
These spectacular landscapes are the "brandmark" of the Cape
of Good Hope but even at the end of week, impossible to become used to
this unlimitedness and to this light...
For our first ride, we go(take) up the racehorses of a stable of training
of gallop situated at the edge of the beach. The occasion for many of
us to experiment the horsemanship on saddles of training in horse races,
very flat and light!
But be afraid of nothing, the length of stirrups can be adjusted to be
more in accordance with our customs...

The next day, after a transfer in minibus until Kleinmond
by spectacular False Bay, we get acquainted with our new frames, totally
different from our racehorses of the day before because they are horses
of three-day event and stamina, one very big quality.We shall have the occasion to appreciate during the next
4 days their impressive energy but which remains always controllable.
Our guide is as well energetic as his horses and he takes advantage of
the slightest sandy area, the slightest grassy road to gallop, imposing
a very steady rhythm on these rides.
The beach of Kleinmond has to envy nothing to that of Noordhoek, and we
sometimes ride in a surprising bath of light and sea sprays, resisting
to the assaults of the waves of the Atlantic Ocean on the way towards
Indian Ocean!

Complete change of atmosphere as soon as we cross the dunes which line
the beach of Kleinmond: Botrivier forms a vast swampy area which shelters
numerous migratory birds, but also wild horses of which we ignore how
they arrived there!
We have the luck to fall on a troop of mares abandoned during some moments
by their standard, what allows us to approach them. It quickly turns out
that the curiosity is shared, and a young foal comes to bind knowledge
with our frame!
But the meeting is not still so peaceful and brotherly, because a little
later, we strongly are put back to our place by a standard which seems
hardly to partageur...

To join the inn where we shall have lunch, we cross plantations of proteas,
the national flower of South Africa.
