ITINERARY
"MONTAIN AND SEA TRAIL"
On horseback, you'll cross Boziu region with its sheep herds and its wild pigs.
Various landscapes, mix of smells from chestnut trees, amazing vegetation... A splendid erosion created strange rocks, and very impressive paths, where you'll have to trust your horse.
This itinerary isn't particularly difficult. It's a perfect ride as first experinece in trail. The support vehicule will transport your luggage to the accommodations and meals everyday.
Day 1 - Saturday
Meeting to Bastia Airport or Bastia port. Transfert to the riding center in Corte (1h drive from the airport and 1h30 drive from the port). Welcome dinner to the guesthouse, introduction to the ride and night in bungalow or guesthouse.
Day 2 - Sunday
After a morning breakfast, meeting point is given at 8:30 am to the stables. We prepare our horses for our first ride. Today, the steps of our horses lead us in the scrubland where we have a picnic lunch (carried on our saddlebags). We get back into the saddle and leave near cortenais villages. Then, we return in the guesthouse for the dinner and night.
Day 3 - Monday
Our trip leads us on a ride through Boziu today. In this pastoral region, we leave on the meeting of the free herds... We discover typical images and atmosphere. Then, we reach the charming small village of Maïto. We return then in the shelter for the dinner and at night (or in bivouac in July and August).
Day 4 - Tuesday
This morning, we get into the saddle and begin an ascent towards the point of Caldane peaking in 1725 m. From here, we have an impregnable point of view and overhang a magnificent panorama of Costa Serena.

Day 5 - Wednesday
After the breakfast, we leave on horseback, then, after approximately three hours of ride and arrive to the sea. By good weather, we can perceive in the wide Elba and the Island of Horsemanship Cristo! On the beach, we take advantage of it to make a break. If the heart says to us, a pleasant bathing with horses will refresh us. According to the envies, we can pursue by fast gallops on the beach or some idleness.

Day 6 - Thursday
Our route begins with an ascent towards the Valley of Tavignano today. Giving its name to the Valley which it crosses, this river takes its source on Nino Lake in 1750 metres high and throws itself on the oriental coast of the island. Along the way, we cross the Chapel of Pancheraccia which we visit. Your guide will please to tell you the history of this so particular site . Dinner and at night in shelter (or in bivouac in July and August).
Day 7 - Friday
This morning, after the breakfast and the preparation of horses, we get into the saddle and leave for a new day of ride. This one is notably punctuated by the crossing of Tavignano. After some bathings in the river, it is necessary then time to return on Corte where we arrive at about 5 pm.
Dinner then at night in bungalow to the riding school or in shelter to Corte.
Day 8 - Saturday
After breakfast, transfer to Bastia airport or Bastion port.
Important : The route is communicated as a rough guide and can be modified without advance notice for safety reasons, of meteorology or accessibility. However, we shall make all the necessary efforts to preserve the interest of the route if modifications must be brought.

SPECIAL DEPARTURE CAVALL'IN FESTA
CORTE (next departure in May 2009)
You wish to discover an even more authentic face and in a warm atmosphere? Add at the end of our "Mountain and Sea Trail" below, 3 days on the traditional festival of the horse in Corte from June 6th till 8th 2008: Cavall' in Festa!
Day 7 - Friday
After our ride, it is the hour of return on Corte at about 5 pm, then transfer by minibus on the fairground. We meet the other riders around a lamb barbecue and take advantage together of the evening. Night in bungalow to the riding school or in shelter to Corte..
Day 8 - Saturday
In the morning, possibility of participating in the parade on horseback in the streets of Corte.
In the afternoon, if the heart says to us, we can participate in a mini--TREC. And this evening, an equestrian show is organized for our biggest pleasure!

Day 9 - Sunday
Today, we have a free access at the fair. We take advantage of competition of CSO and training, but also presentation of breeding horses...
According to your schedule of flight, transfer to Bastia airport or Bastia port.
The meals are not included this day.
This extra stay includes half board basis and transfers.

HORSES AND REQUIRED RIDING LEVEL
Horses
Our riding base also is a riding school, which guarantee you well trained horses. The most part of horses are robust and strong Corsican horses. Some Merens horse also are available.
Horses often are compared with sheep because of their secure feet in very accidented ground. You'll have to walk down on some hard tracks.
Tack
We use Corsican saddles, and Mac Lellan saddles. Saddlebags are provided.
Required riding level
To join this trail, you have to be comfortable at all paces in open spaces, even if the most part of the ride happens in the mountains and the principal pace is walk. We will ride about 30km a day, 5 to 6 hours in the saddle.
A good stamina is necessary. If you're more than 90kg weight, please consult us before booking.
Children are welcomed from 12 years old if accompagnied by an adult, or 14 years old if alone.
This Mountain and Sea Trail is perfect for a first experience of trail ride.
YOUR GUIDES
Guiding
This trail is guided by an experienced and diplomed guide. He leaves all year long in Corsica and knows this region better than everyone else. He'll make you discover the Island of Beauty of total safety.
Logistic
Our support vehicule will join you every evenings with your luggages and sometimes during lunch time.
Maximum luggage weight : 20kg.
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation
This trail happens in a particularly wild environment, but with comfortable accommodations in guesthouse, shelters (dormitory) during the low tourims season. In july and August, you'll spend 4 nights in bivouac under tent (nights 3, 4, 6 and 7). The first and last nights will be spent in bungalow or shelter in Corte.
In each cases, we ask you to take your sleeping bag.
Food
At lunch, picnic will be pull out from saddlebags. and dinners will be served with our hosts with hot meals. You'll have the opportunity to taste local specialisties (cooked pork meats, cheeses and local alcohols).

2 shuttles are planned and desserve Port and Airport.
The first one around 10am and the second around 3.00pm.
The last day, you'll be drop back after breakfast at 9.00.
These time schedules, can be changed a little bit depending flight schedules of the riders.
CLIMATE
Middle climate all year long in Corsica, but be careful of mountain storms. Evening can be fresh, so don't forget your sweater and rain coat. .
Formality
Check with your local Embassy according to your nationality.
Vaccins - health
No specific vaccination, we recommend you to be up to date concerning
your usual vaccinations, in particular for the tetanus vaccine.
Remember that a repatriation travel insurance is compulsory.
