Why travelling with Randocheval ?

MOROCCO : ADVENTURE TRAIL ON STALLIONS HORSEBACK IN THE ATLAS MOUNTAINS...

You will discover another Morocco to the rythm of Barb horses, in the Atlas Mountains close to Agadir. This trail will make you discover during 6 full days on horseback the best keeped secrets of the Atlais Mountains. If you are looking for the "nomad spirit", we will respond to your "desert call" with our other trail in western Morocco : the Sahara Trail toward Ouarzazate and Zagora (departure from november to march). And you want to discover sandy beaches from Agadir to Essaouira, we suggest you our Berber ride (departure from june to september)

ITINERARY

Day 1
Pick up at Agadir airport. Dinner and night at the hotel. (Due to late arrivals, the dinner can be not included.)

Meeting with the guides and the tour leader of your trip. Night at the hotel.

Day 2
After breakfast, we will start our week ride by a first contact with our horses while riding on a large track into the direction of Ait Moussa to the foothill of the Anti-Atlas mountains.

Our first break lunch will be carried out in edge of sea, before the track goes uphill through a thuja bush to the bivouac of Tourarine. This area is famous for its argan forests. After a picnic break, we start to climb the mountain. Then, we reach Timzgou after crossing two passes. We build the camp under palm trees in Timzgou.

Day 3
Today, we discover the mountains and its beautiful landscapes, its oueds... The riding pace is slow. We cross almond plantations, and next follow the river before to join the disused souk of Ait Ahmed. Night under tent to Boutbokalte spring.

Day 4
We have two possibilities today. On the one hand, we can ride in order to head the the weir's lake of Youssef Ben Tachfine, and get back to ths camp after lunch time. On the second hand, we can have a rest at the camp, during the morning, before have an horse riding after-noon, along the river.

Day 5
This morning, we leave this magic valley in direction of the west. We follow the canal. The landcape is changing, less mountainous, but argan trees and cactus are still there. The pace is faster now as the tracks are largest. We reach the Massa plains and finally Tangert to spend the night. Night under tent.

Day 6
The area we cross this morning is irrigated. Next, the ground becomes sandy, and we reach the Oued Massa embouchure. You'll see the numerous birds nested in the rush of the oued border. Night into an eucalyptus forest near Sidi Rbat.

Day 7
We go to the National Park of Souss-Massa, where we visit the bird resevation (above 2h00). Then, after lunch time, we join the horses and ride along the Atlantic ocean on endless sandy beaches. You'll see on that way, some cave-dweller used by fisherman. We ride until the sinner village of Tifnit. It's time to say good bye to your horse. Transfer to the hotel for the last night.

Day 8
Breakfast and transfer to Agadir airport, according to your flight schedule.

HORSES AND REQUIRED RIDING LEVEL

Horses and tack In the most difficult ascents or slopes, on the rocky tracks, we will ask you to dismount in order to let your companion get its breath back. All our horses are barb horses, admirably suited to the mountain tracks. They have English or trail riding saddles. We will ask you to contribute to the cohesion and the harmony of the group, that will assure the success of your trip, thanks to a positive and active participation to the inevitable tasks: grooming, harnessing and feeding the horses, taking down the camp in the morning.

Recommended riding experience Our trail rides are dedicated to riders with good equestrian mastery. It is necessary to be confident at all paces. In the most difficult ascents or slopes, on the rocky tracks, we will ask you to dismount in order to let your companion get its breath back. Sample day organization : after breakfast and collection of luggage and equipment, every day is usually structured as follows : 2h30-3h on horseback in the morning, picnic and 2h30-3h on horseback again. Children over 12 are accepted if accompanied by a riding adult.

ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation
Most of the nights are spent in bivouac. In Agadir, you will sleep at the hotel. Depending on dates, you may also spend some nights in guest houses.
Riders booking alone will share a twin room with another person of the group. Accommodation in single room is possible at the hotel with additional cost to be paid directly on the spot (option to be asked at booking, above 10 €).
It'll be possible to have a bath everyday in the rivers or waterpoints located close to each campsite.

Provided gear
Tents and rubber mattress. Please note, the sleeping bags are not provided.
A detailled list will be provided prior to departure.
Electric plugs are European so you don't need any adapter.

Meals
A copious breakfast in the morning, picnic for the lunch (grills, mixed salads, omelettes…). On the evening, you will eat, most of the time, typically Moroccan meals.

We will ask you to contribute to the cohesion and the harmony of the group, that will assure the success of your trip, thanks to a positive and active participation to the inevitable tasks: grooming, harnessing and feeding the horses, taking down the camp in the morning.
