GUATEMALA : MAYAN EXPEDITION ON HORSEBACK

Itinerary - Extensions - Horses and required riding level
Guiding - Accommodation - Dates and rates - More infos / booking

Guatemala is one of the most contrasted countries of Central America...

… Geographical contrast from tropical lands of Peten to the Pacific Coast and the “tierras frias” in the altiplano, which is divided by about thirty volcanoes, and some actives.
… Historical contrast: Guatemala keeps wonderful draws of his extraordinary Mayan and Colonial history.
… Ethnic and social contrast: Indian or ladinos (half-blood) villages, which are still isolate in the altiplano, black people “garifuna” on the Caribbean Coast, important immigration to the USA. Guatemala just leaves the part of his history to brave the challenge of economic growth and social development.

The Cuchumatane’s Cordillera, in the west part of Guatemala, is the highest mountain chain –except volcanoes – and spectacular in Central America (from 2000 mts to 3800 mts). It is the very specific region, sometimes austere, with various landscapes, and a large part of Indian people.

The altitude variations of the tropical region lead different kind of climates and ecosystems. Unexplored by classic tourism, this region is, for us, one of the most beautiful of Guatemala!
