Why travelling with Randocheval ?

ITINERARY

Day 1

Guests will be met at Johannesburg international Airport and transferred to Horizon (approximately 2 1/2 hours) in time for lunch.  That afternoon guests will enjoy an introductory ride in the game reserve, with sundowners served at one of our hippo dams.  Dinner is a 3 course evening meal at the lodge.

Day 2
A morning of mustering cattle. Triple B Ranch is one of South Africa ’s top stud Bonsmara farms with more than 1500 head of cattle, which need to move regularly to new pastures.  Guests have the opportunity to participate in this fun and exciting activity. This can be followed by a cooling swim with your horse.

Following lunch, relax in the heat of the day by the pool or take a siesta. 

Afternoon tea is followed by an exhilarating fast ride utilizing some of the farms many kilometers of clear sandy tracks.

Day 3 to 7
During this week of holidays, you'll ride between 4 to 6h a day on various activities depending to the wishes of the group. Children may be separated from the adults for some of the activities.

Please find below the listing of included activities :

• cattle drive and cattle round-up
• ride to a close farm to visit the farm, the school and the day-nursery
• cross-country
• ride around the hippo pool
• swim with the horses
• horseback safaris to find wildlife
• western games (barrel racing, rope race, relay race, ...)
• fast riding on the sandy tracks on the property
  

and all activities happening into the reserve.

• fishing to Sunset Lake (no experience required)

All meals are taken at Lodge, and you'll be accomodating in one of the comfortable room of the Lodge.
In that way, you'll organize your program depending to your wishes.
The warm welcome and the large choice of activities will make your discovery of Africa a safe and successful experience.

For people who wish a more complete discovery of Africa, some optional activities are available and have to be booked and paid directly :

• Game drive to Dinaka Game Reserve
• Visit to Charles Barber's farm
• 2 days safari on horseback in Lindani Reserve (4 people minimum)
• Safari to Entabeni Reserve :
  - game drive to meet the big "Five"
  - helicopter flight over the reserve (6mn)
• Elephant safari (45mn) including breakfast with the elephant trainers
• Visit to the goat cheese farm, with goat cheese tasting
• Quad safari with a naturalist guide (1h30), children before 8 yo will be passengers.

Day 8
Finish off your holiday with a last ride of your choice.  Departure after a homely lunch in the garden around 2pm in order to join the airport around 6pm.

Please note these options are available and the itinerary above is an indication of what one can expect during a week at ranch, however as we are completely flexible, guests can decide on a daily basis what activities they would like to partake in.

HORSES AND REQUIRED RIDING LEVEL

Horses We take great pride in the care and quality of our horses.  Our herd comprises of Anglo-Arabs, Thoroughbreds, Boerperds and crossbreeds ranging in size from 14.1 – 16.3 hands. All of our horses are honest forward going and highly responsive. Many have been reared, broken and schooled at ranch by our highly skilled horseman.  He has been using “round-pen-reasoning” techniques on young and problem horses for over 15 years.  With over 60 mounts to choose from, for a maximum of 10 guests, we are able to closely match horse to rider capability.  Experienced riders will have a stimulating ride on an intelligent horse, children will be able to enjoy the fun of the willing welshies, while the novice rider will be able to build confidence as they are informally coached by both guide and mount.  . Tack We use mainly customised McClellan saddles, which give a comfortable and secure western type ride. English and Australian stock saddles are also available.

Recommended riding level This safari is suitable for novice to experienced riders. Maximum weight : 110 kg Minimum age : no minimum age if the children love the ponies. Discount for children under 12. Non riders are welcome. Wearing a riding hat is compulsory.

YOUR GUIDES

2 professional guides will accompany you. They are very experience guides, and know perfectly the animal behaviour. They will be able to give you many informations about the African wildlife.

ACCOMMODATION

Accomodation The Lodge overlooks a beautiful lake normally home to the resident hippo pod. The large colonial verandah is the perfect spot to take in the beauty of South Africa , while listening to hippo and jackal calls. With no TV and no newspapers, it is the ideal place to get away from it all. You'll be accommodated depending to your wish : - in three ensuite standard double rooms in the main house - in three luxury, en-suite thatched rondavels, each set slightly away from the main house, offering a private and homely place to relax after a long day in the saddle. The Swimming pool enables you to cool off after a hot summer's day. Food Food is our ranch's second love. Before an early morning ride, guests are offered a light breakfast. After working up an appetite on your ride, lunch is enjoyed under the giant Syringa tree in the garden, followed by afternoon tea & cake at about 3pm. Dinner is a sociable and sumptuous affair, during which the day's adventures, or misadventures, are recounted with great delight. Our carefully planned three-course menus are accompanied by a selection of fine South African wines. Fresh vegetables and home-grown herbs are used in all recipes, with the homemade breads and cakes freshly baked on a daily basis.

Low season : -200 €

- Single room supplement:

Supplement does not apply if you are prepared for sharing, and even if we do not find another rider for sharing your accomodation we will suggest you a standard room for single occuption at no extra fees.

- Non riders: no discount for non riders as we include many excursions walking safaris in the bush. A very exciting experience with the suggestions and information from a specialist.

- Children discount (less than12 years old) with accommodation in standard room only :

No specific vaccinations. Don't forget your repatriation insurance.

We recommand to be update of usual vaccination, and especially tetanus..
A treatment against Malaria is also recommended. Please contact a doctor before departure.
