Mongolia, mythical destination for riders travellers! Different tales have given an image in our spirit, Nomads in the heart of vaste steppe... Who have never dreamt of ridding in the immense region with a wild herd on the track of the rider people who knows first of all horse ridding before walking? In this country the horse is a mean of transport very useful, you will meet the last nomadic people, ridding with them between plains and montains, trying some very tastyful traditional dishes, and experiencing the particular warm hospitality, sleeping in Yurt camp to feel far away of nowhere... During our trekking you will discover fantastic lanscapes and a rich cultural heritage. In addition to some new itinerary, you will have a professional French guide during your whole trip. With his good logistic team, including one or two riding local guides, cookers, drivers (depend on the number of riders). You will discover on horseback all the assets of his country out of the paths. |

For all our horses trekking in Mongolia, you will have two horses at your diposal during the trip, the horses not use will roam free in a pure Mongol tradition.
We can suggest three following itineraries :
- Horse trekking in 'Arkanghaï,
the cradle of Mongolian People.
- Horse trekking in Altaï montain,
in the country of Berkutchi people, the riders "aigliers
Kazhaks", an itinerary not so much frequented, to meet different
isolated ethnies.
- Horse trekking in Khentii montain,
to discover a montainous and wild region.

ITINERARY
This horse trekking follow a new itineray, between steppe,
montains, and lakes to meet isolated people to Berkutchi country, where
are living Kazakhs riders who grow up eagles to hunt as their ancient
tradition.
Day 1 : Ulaanbaatar
Arrival at Oulaanbaatar early in the morning. Greeting with our team at
the airport and transfer to your Yurte hotel. In the afternoon, In the
afternoon visit of the Capital and notably Gandan Monastery,temple complex
where thousand of pelegrins come to pray. The visit of this temple is
ended by a service. Then, we will carry on visiting the art and craft
market among the local people. Traditional diner under a Yurte-restaurant
and night in a Yurt camp.
Day 2 : Domestic flight to Khovd
Flight in the morning, to Khovd. Greeting with the local team, cookers,
drivers, and guides which will come with you throughout the ride.
Departure to Khar Us Nuur lake, amazing black water lake. Night
in camp.
Day 3 and day 4 : Meeting with the breeders
Two days of horse trekking around the big Khar Us Nuur lake. You will
discover inhabitant's lifestyle of the isolated region and enjoy meeting
the Nomads people.
Day 5: Doroo Lake
Today,we are going to Doroo lake, a magnifique lake where a lot
of rare birds and fishs live. This montainous region dotted lakes
is without any doubt the most beatiful region of the country!
Day 6 and 7 : Tsambagarav Montain
Today, we are going to 3 days in autonomy, you will see wild landscapes
especially inacessible. After preparing the horses we ride to Tsambagarav
Montain (4195 m sea level). In the way, you meet few unusual and isolated
ethnic groups: the Oold, the Zakhchin...
Day 8 : Khongor Olon
After going up to Burat Pass, you will be in the most charming high top
of the Altaï Montain. On the evening, we refind the logistic vehicule
and our staff for the night in the camp.
Day 9 : Tolbo Nuur (Tolbo Lake)
From today, we will change of province: we are with the Kazakhs, in the
Berkutchi country of the hunters riders of eagles. (Demonstration possible.)
Day 10 : Doroo Nuur (Doroo Lake)
During our horse trekkingnous you will discover the "Thousand
water's lake", called Doroo Nuur.
Day 11 and 12 : Burgast Valley
During these two days, you will discover an amazing valley: Burgast
Valley. Here you could meet nomadic ethnic group and youn could
share their way of life thanks to our guide. Typical diner and night
under tent in the forest.
Day 13 : Olgi
Way back to Olgi airport. Domestic flight to Ulaanbaatar.
Day 14 : Ulaanbaatar
Visit in Ulaanbaatar. Lunch not included.
Night in camp
Day 15 : Ulaanbaatar
Breakfast and drop back to the airport.
Please note that this horse trekking in Mongolia is a real adventure
in some region which are just opening up to tourism. MOreover, for the
mongols the track of time and space is very different than us. For this
reason, we can be sure of the definite program and schedule , our guide
will be flexible according to the circumstances. All of that is a part
of an expectional trip and give it a certain charm!
The domestic flight might be changed or postponed even cancelled without
notice, so that the last day in Ulaanbaatar is organised in case of change
of return flight to Ulaanbaatar, whatever happen you will take your flight
to Europe. Also the last day can be replaced by a visit day in the city
of the domestic flight.
All our programmes above are indicative. They can be modified or rearranged
for technical, safety or weather reasons. In this case, only the supervisiors
are able to take the decisions that are necessary. Please be confident
on the guide onsite in any case, who knows everything about the country
and will do his best for your comfort.

Extension "Special Naadam Festival" (11th
and 12th July 2008) In july, the departure are orgnanised to be at the famous Naadam Festival, national event which celebrate the millenar culture of Mongolia. You could see different show and traditional fight, Mongol Nadaam, horse racing... You can choose to add 2 or 3 day in Ulaanbaatar before or after your horse trekking or choosing a departure including the dates of the Naadam Festival to be at the celebration in a little village that you will visit durung your trip. |

HORSES AND REQUIRED RIDING LEVEL
Mongols horses are little but solid and they are well trained for any
grounds.
The sadlery is occidental and hand maded by the Mongolians.
You do not really need a big horse ridding experience,
but it is rather important to be use to live outside and do not be scared
of a rustic comfort and to have a good health to discover the most far
away region of Mongolia and to be able to ride during 4 to 7 heures
per day.
For this horse trekking in Altaï Montain, you need to be an expereince
riders, because of the hard environment.
YOUR GUIDES

The satff of the team onsite are local specialists. A French guide will come with each horse trekking as well as a cooker team, drivers and 1 or 2 horses ridding guides. It is really important to be in good healt and to know the risks link to a horse trekking inside a wild environment. Some stop off will bring you away of the beaten tracks and so far from the closest hospital. However, our personal security is garanteed by the traditional hopistality in Mongolia. A raid or theft is most likely in your city than in these welcoming regions! |
ACCOMMODATION
This horse trekking is a real adventure where no one infrastructure is existing.
You will spleep each evening either under tents or Yurts.
Accommodation in solid tentes for 2 people (with thick mastress of good quality), a big tent for everybody to eat together.
Yurts camps with warm water and guest house according to the itineray.
Please note: the lackes and rivers are not your bathroom
for environmental reasons, plastic blow will be provied to get washed,
but it is at this price that you will live an extraodinary horse trekking!
Your meals will be cooked by great cookers. You will taste some good Mongolia
specialities.
Tasting of milk in some region.

CLIMATE
You could believe that's Mongolia is the best in June, Jully, august
and september because of the cold, however, even if the days are warmer
in summer, in March the climat is mild, even in winter the climat is
still day and nice to horse trekking. Blue sky and pure air will be
here!
However, the weather can change suddendly several time a day with a
big range between morning and evening. The nights ae fress all around
the year (it is possible to have a frozen night even in summer); so
you need to take thick clothes that you can put on the other.
Winter
Average winter temperature - 10°c for the day and - 25° - 30°
the night.
Formalities
Passport valid more than 6 month + visa.
Vaccins - Health
No need of particular vaccins, but you need to be up to date for your
usual vaccin.
