Mongolia in Winter ?
...another way to discover this country and enter in the heart of a nomad
civilization and its big winter festival...in the snow!
For all riders motivated and warm dressed, all the itineray are available
in February and March thanks to the adjustement of the accommodation during
the trip.
We can suggest three following itineraries :
- Horse trekking in 'Arkanghaï, the cradle of Mongolian People.
- Horse trekking in Altaï montain, in the country of Berkutchi people, the riders "aigliers
Kazhaks", an itinerary not so much frequented, to meet different
isolated ethnies.
- Horse trekking in Khentii montain, to discover a montainous and wild region.
For this year there is something new!! Indeed, you will have a professional
French guide during your whole trip.
With his good logistic team, including one or two riding local guides,
cookers, drivers (depend on the number of riders). You will discover on
horseback all the assets of his country out of the paths.
For all our horses trekking in Mongolia, you will have two horses at your
diposal during the trip, the horses not use will roam free in a pure Mongol
tradition. |

ITINERARY
Day 1 : Flight to Ulaanbaatar
Day 2 : Ulaanbaatar
Arrival at Oulaanbaatar early in the morning. Greeting with our
team at the airport and transfer to your Yurte hotel. In the afternoon
visit of the Capital and notably Gandan Monastery,temple complex
where thousand of pelegrins come to pray. The visit of this temple
is ended by a service. Then, we will carry on visiting the art and
craft market among the local people.
Traditional diner under a Yurte-restaurant and night in a Yurt camp.
Day 3 : Departure by Transmongolia Railway to Gobi central
We will take the Transmongolia railway around 10h to cross the
beautiful winter landscapes of the Gobi desert to Gobi central,
Choir. Arrival in the evening and welcoming by the local team. Immediat
departure to Ikh gazaryn chuluu. It is the previous day for the
Lunar New Year! The nomade are waiting for wishing an happy new
year.

Day 4 : Lunar New Year in Ikh Gazaryn Park
Today, we will meet the nomads cattle breeders who are making gift
to celebrate the New Year. Thus, we will have our first horse ridding
and will be welcomed to the nomads family for this particular event.
NIght in Guest house in warm Yurt.
Day 5 : Departure to Tsogt Ovoo
Crossing by 4x4 of the Gobi desert (on eof the most cold in the
world)towards South of Gobi to arrive in Tsogt Ovoo Village. Stop
for snack lunch. We will visit some family who are breeder of camel.
Night in Guest House in the village of the breeders.
Day 6 : Dalanzadgad, Gobi of South.
Leaving the breeder early morning, to go to Dalanzadgad. Visit of
the capital Gobi of South.
Night and diner in the hotel in Dalanzadgad.
Day 7 : Gypaète Barbus Park.
We will meet our guides and horses and prepare for the big trip!
Ridding to the Gypaètes Barbus Park, an oasis of Gobi of
South which offer fantastic landscapes. Around 4-5h on horseback.
Back to Dalanzadgad and night in the hotel.
Day 8 to 11 : In the boundless Gobi desert
From Gypaètes Park to Bayanzag Valley, archaeological site
of Gobi of South, we will ride towards the immense Gobi desert with
several stop on the way to visit breeders, so you could experience
the nomadic lifestyle in winter.
The beginning of Mongol spring, reveal its beautiful landscapes in
the winter's cold of the vaste area. You will never forget the traditional
hospitality throughout this trip.

Day 12 and 13 : Thousand camel's Festival
The Mongol nomads celebrate the Thousand camel's Festival for the
"Wight night", New lunar year.
After the starting ceremony, you will be at horses and camels racing.
Several events are suggest in the province like: Camels polo, Mongol
Naadam. Night in Yurts camp.
Day 14 : Flight to Ulaanbaatar
Return to Ulaanbaatar with domestic flight or road transfer (around
13h by comfortable bus with guide, cooker and driver). Settling at
the hotel.
Day 15 : Ulaanbaatar visit
Visit of the capital city and its seightseeing like National museum
and Yhe Bogd Khaan Winter Palace owned by the last Mongol King.
Traditional show and songs in option. Dinner in a typical restaurant.
Day 16
Return to Europe.
Extension possible in the Khubsugul province for the Ice Festival
(Contact us).
The domestic flight might be changed or postponed even cancelled
without notice, so that the last day in Ulaanbaatar is organised
in case of change of return flight to Ulaanbaatar, whatever happen
you will take your flight to Europe or we will make sure to have
a road transfer (around 13h by bus to come back from the Camels
Festival).
Also the last day can be replaced by a visit day in the city of
the domestic flight.
All our programmes above are indicative. They can be modified or
rearranged for technical, safety or weather reasons. In this case,
only the supervisiors are able to take the decisions that are necessary.
Please be confident on the guide onsite in any case, who knows everything
about the country and will do his best for your comfort.

Mongols horses are little but solid and they are well trained for any grounds.

The sadlery is occidental and hand maded by the Mongolians.

Required riding abilities
You do not really need a big horse ridding experience,
but it is rather important to be use to live outside and do not be scared
of a rustic comfort and to have a good health to discover the most far away
region of Mongolia and hold the winter climat (around 0° the day and
till minus 20° the night).
These winter horses trekking are recommended for experienced rides who
have a good physical conditions. The climat and environment can be hard
and wild.

YOUR GUIDES
The supervisor team onsite is a local specialist A French guide will come
with each horse trekking as well as a cooker team, drivers and 1 or 2
horses ridding guides.
It is really important to be in good healt and to konwo the risks link
to a horse trekking inside a wild environment. Some stop off will bring
you away of the known path and so far from the closest hospital.
However, our personal security is garanteed by the traditional hopistality
in Mongolia. A raid or theft is most likely in your city than in these
welcoming regions!

ACCOMMODATION
The horses trekking are more adapted to the weather conditon and so
the accommodation are Warm Yurts or hotels.
In sipte of the heating system, it can be 0°c the morning in the
Yurts. Big and warm duvet cover are provided and also pillows but you
should take a sleeping bag in case of big cold. (A list of what you
need will you be given after your booking).
The meals are prepared by some great cookers and you will have warm
lunch and warm diner of local specialities.

CLIMATE
You could believe that's Mongolia is the best in June, Jully, august
and september because of the cold, however, even if the days are warmer
in summer, in March the climat is mild, even in winter the climat is
still day and nice to horse trekking. Blue sky and pure air will be
here!
However, the weather can change suddendly several time a day with a
big range between morning and evening. The nights ae fress all around
the year (it is possible to have a frozen night even in summer); so
you need to take thick clothes that you can put on the other.
Winter
Average winter temperature - 10°c for the day and - 25° - 30°
the night.
Formalities
Check with your local Embassy according to your nationality.
Vaccines-Health
It is necessary to be up to date concerning your usual vaccinations, in
particular for the tetanus vaccine.
Remember that a repatriation travel insurance is compulsory.
