From May to August, join us, for a Nature horse riding trail in Finland!
Two possibilities during this 8 days horse riding trail : one or two nights in traditional chalet (define by the first booking).

ITINERARY
Day 1: Sunday: Rovaniemi
Welcome at the Rovaniemi airport and private transfer to the horse riding center (above 1h30). Once you're unpacked it's time to meet the horses and the rest of our staff.
Dinner in the grillikota (: typical barbecue house) and night in cottage.
Day 2: Monday
After the breakfast, we left for our first day ride and take the direction of Kivivaaralaavu ! Riding on path draw by reindeers herd, we discovered the Finland’s swamp. Then, we climbed to the high points of the mountains Aavasaksa, where we enjoyed a guided visit.

For the second part of the horse riding trail, two possibilities:
- 2 days maraud
- 3 days maraud
Two days maraud
Days 3 and 4: Tuesday and Wednesday
This morning, we leaved for the special part of our trail: two days maraud, with one night in chalet located in forest! There, we will enjoyed the sauna and the numerous and wonderful panoramas… on the path, we learn and enjoyed the tölt. Such an experience! Maybe could we meet briefly reindeers, eagles, fox or others emblematic animals from the Lapp’s nature.
Dinner and night in traditional rustic chalet, without electricity but with sauna.
Day 5: Thursday
This day is devoted to the leisure of our valorous mount. So, we left the cottage to a visit of a reindeer’s farm and why not visit other curiosities, as breed husky dog or the Santa Claus Village at Rovaniemi ? (optional activities managed by the local guide)
Dinner in the grillikota (: typical barbecue house) and night in cottage.
Day 6: Friday
This morning, we joined our horses, and left for Porokamppa. This sight was an old place of gregarious meeting, and gives a special atmosphere. We could admire the multicolored loose-stoned surrounding too. Then, we followed our trail, using some of the numerous paths crossing the forest. We enjoyed this wild nature and the long tölts!

Day 7: Saturday
Last horse riding trail day but not the least. We left for a trail around the Aavasaksa mountain. Lunch time at the end of the downhill skiing, nearby the lake with green shores and translucent water… After the break, we ridded back to the horse riding center and our accommodation.

Day 8: Sunday: Rovaniemi
Breakfast and transfer to the Rovaniemi airport for your return flight.
Three days maraud
Days 3, 4 and 5: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
Today is a special day departure. This morning, we leaved for three days maraud, with two nights in chalet located in forest! There, we enjoyed the sauna and the numerous and wonderful panoramas… On the path, we learn and enjoyed the tölt. Such an experience! Maybe could we meet briefly reindeers, eagles, fox or others emblematic animals from the Lapp’s nature.
On some fussy way, we might walk next to our horses.
Dinner and night in traditional rustic chalet, without electricity but with sauna.
Day 6: Friday

Horses
Most of the horses are from Icelandic origins: good opportunity to taste the tölt! They are brave, strong, calm and easy to handle.
They are not worried neither about the swamps nor about the rivers swollen when the thaw comes in spring, or about the snow during our winter rides.
Weight limit : 90kg |
Tack
We use English saddles. Saddlebags are included, for your personal things (camera, sunglass, picnic…).
Required riding level
To join this trail, you have to be comfortable at walk, trot and canter. You will ride 3 to 6 hours a day. You don’t have to already know the tölt.
The distance you'll run can vary depending to the program, but you need to have a good stamina as we have sometimes to walk next to the horse.

YOUR GUIDES
The guide on this trail is Natascha. She is guide for 35 years and in loved from her country. She will be very please to share her passion with you.
One person of the team manage the stewardship (bring your personal thongs to the chalet) and you will meet him each evening at the camp or the cottage. |

ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation
During the horse riding trail, you will be accommodate at the house of the guide and owners: Natascha and Rob, nearby the stables. You will be in two or four people in each bedroom and share the bathroom, and sauna.
The maraud nights are in traditional rustic chalet, without electricity but with a sauna. There is not bathroom, but you can have a quick toilette.
You have to bring your sleeping bag for these nights.

CLIMATE
The air in Finland is always fresh and stimulating!
This is the land of the midnight sun, and from June to August, it is clear during 24h.
The autumn colors in mid-late September are very beautiful.
Northern Finland is the land of the Polar lights - Aurora Borealis - they remain above the northern horizon almost every clear night. Winter is dry and not usually very windy.
In March and April temperatures in the day usually range from -5 to +5°C but temperature may drop to -15°C during the night.
In May, it can still have 50 cm snow.
In June the temperature in the day is about 15 C, and between 5 C - 9 C at night.
In July the temperature in the day rises to an average of 18 C and nights are about10 C.
In August the temperature in the day may rise up to 20 C but the evenings will be starting to get cooler, and in September daytime temperatures can vary from 5 C - 15 C but nighttime temperatures may drop to freezing.
It can rain at any time, although July and August should be drier, so allow an efficient waterproof gear. On the contrary, it is not very windy.

Contact your embassy. For European people, a valid passport is necessary.
Vaccination - health
No specific vaccinations are required at this time, however we recommend to keep general vaccinations up-to-date, especially tetanus.
Do not forget your repatriation insurance.
