Day 1 : Tunis - Tabarka
Meeting point to Tunis Carthage international airport. Welcome and transfers by minibus to Tabarka on the Coral Coast (180km).

Set up to the Dar Ismael 5* hotel (or similar), and the welcome cocktail and depending to arrival time of all riders, we will go on the beach to meet the horses.

First short ride on tabarka beach.

Dinner and night to Dar Ismael Hotel.

Day 2 : Tabarka - Hammam Bourguiba
Breakfast and let's go to find our horse near the "Pont Cassé". We will have the opportunity to make our first canter in the morning straight on Ain Draham mountain.

When we arrive to the lunch stop, we are 500m high, the lunch is ready and served with tunisian specialities.

After lunch, we leave from Babouch in Bou Fernana direction through corks oak forests. We come down again then towards Hammam-Bourguiba.
Our hotel for this night is Mouradi 4*. Dinner and at night in the hotel.
For those who wish, possibility to take advantage of the Hamman fed by the natural hot springs.

Day 3 : Hammam Bourguiba - Ain Draham

Breakfast and departure from the hotel. We leave through the magnificent landscapes of the small Atlas, in the Dam Kourbia direction. We take the track of Medchreoua and Adissa, make the tour of Adissa mountain by following Barbara lake by the "High" road. Stopping place to have lunch at the edge of the lake after which we take the track in El Grafa direction. We cross corks oak forests with sight on the sea before to reach Ain Draham village.

We leave the horses and set up for the night. We invite you to relax in the swimming pool before dinner.

Day 4 : Ain Draham - Ben Metir
After breakfast, we start the day with the ascent of the Mountain Djebel Bir, peaking in 1050m. Arrived at the summit, we shall have a panoramic sight in 360 degrees on the whole route of this ride, which our guide will detail. We get down again the mountain to take the road towards the lake of Ben Metir we make the tour the tour between oaks corks and eucalyptus. Have lunch at the edge of the river where the support vehicle is waiting for us.

After lunch we ride again by Ain Salem route. We'll cross El Oumri oued and his dike to reach Madhaoui's track.

We leave the horses to Ben Metir, a nice village with red and black walls which remind us ... Switzerland!
We have a 20 min drive to join our hotel for dinner and night.

25 km on horseback.

Day 5 : Ben Metir - Bulla Reggia

After breakfast at the hotel, we join our horses and leave by the track Ain Samia on 4 km, direction Jentouba. We pass in Dejbel Aich, with a radical change of landscape : we abandon the forest in the oued Guessala to discover a wide landscape of steppes.
To Guesala, we have lunch on eucalyptus's shade. We leave then by Guesala bridge next to Fernana, in the direction of the archeological site of Bulla Reggia. A great opportunity to canter through the steppe.

We leave our horse to Drissi riding base and we come back by minibus (25 min drive) to our hotel to sepnd the night. Dinner and night at the hotel

30 km on horseback

Day 6 : Bulla Reggia - Chemtou

Today, it is the cultural day of the trail ride!
We leave by vehicle to visit the antique extraordinary Roman site of Bulla Reggia (approximately 1 hour to 1.30 hour). Following this visit, we go to Drissi where horses are waiting for us, to take a meal before riding.

Then, we ride in the direction of Chemtou through the hills of Herche and the fields of olive trees towards Medjerda. We shall pass in ford by following the oued up to the Roman marble quarries. At our arrival to Chemtou, we leave the horses in front of the sites we are going to visit : the marble quarries with which the productions decorated the Ancient Rome, and Chemtou museum.
Have lunch to Sidi Yaya and return in the hotel by minibus (35 min drive)

24 km on horseback

Day 7 : Bulla Reggia - Fedja National Park

For this last day on horseback, we leave by the amphitheatre and the Roman aqueduct , to gallop then in the direction of Tubernica, and we ride to the Oued Souf where we stop for lunch.
We take then the road of connection (connection asphalted on 5km but little frequented) before rising towards the National park of Fedja by El Aioun and Ain Soltan.
In this park of Fedja live more than 200 deers, hinds and fawns, we just have to keep our eyes open!

We visit the eco museum of the park and we continue towards the immense pen where we can make some photos of the present animals.
We end our route by Watchtower Rock, which rises over all the valley and its steps were directly sculpturted in the granite.
It's time to say goodbye to our companions who knew how to make us discover very pleasantly this magnificent region still underestimated by Tunisia.

Transfer back to the hotel (1h30). Dinner and night to the hotel.

Day 8 : Ain Draham - Tunis - Europe
Breakfast to the hotel and transfer to Tunis airport.

Logistic
Our support vehicle is never far away, it joins us at lunch time and can be present in case of emergency. The team is esquiped with cellular phone and long distance talkie Walkie.

The minibus will pick you up every evening at the horse field to drive you to the hotel. The same route is made in the morning to find again our horses. Our luggages will transportated every day from accommodation to accommodation.

We will ask you to put in the saddlebags your equipment for the day (rain coat, water, camera...)

Our team will take care the horse during lunch time and in the evening.

Accommodation

All nights are spent in very comfortable hotels :

- Dar Ismael 5* to Tabarka (1 night)
- Mouradi Palace 4* to Hammam Bourguiba (1 night)
- Nour el Ain 3* to Ain Draham (5 nights)

 

We will do our best to keep those accommodations, but if required its could be replaced by equivalent accommodations. Stars are given as local classification. To compare with european classifactation, please take away half to one full star.

Food

Breakfast and dinners are spent to the hotel.

The included drinks are half a bottle of mineral water and one soft drink per person per meal. Alcoholic drinks are not included.

Lunches are made in open nature. Each day, our support vehicule will be waiting for us with already put up table with hot meal (barbecue, start and dessert).

The climate is very nice during tourism low season, time we organize departures.

 

During srping, the sun is shinning everywhere but rain falls are possible in the north of Tunisia. The last days of march could be rainy.
Take a rain coat in each cases.

 

Next the rains stop, the sun arrives with a mximum of 10h a day sun in may and temperatures average 12 to 25°C in march and 19 to 29 °C in may, perfect for trail ride.
