Catalonia gather together a huge variety of landscapes in a quite small space. First of all the seaside has two faces: as soon as you're leaving the touristic sites you'll find a contrasted landscapes with a succesion of rocky inlets, creeks and pine- lined capes, which remained protected. Further to the north the mountain is more present and we find fantastic cliffs sceneries, diving into the mediterrean while at the south, pristine beaches are more attractive to us. The hinterlands don't give up to the littoral in the richness of sceneries it can offer. Vineyards et olive grove are juxtaposed with market gardening, flower and fruit culture fields. We joins the Sierra de Montseny, classified as a mondial biosphere reserve by the UNESCO. Montserrat monastery is nested in somptuous mountain surroundings, where lakes and volcanos bring a certain value to this region. Finally, the Pyrenees, where romans churches are settled for centuries and where we can still find unique places for hikkers: natural parks.... More than a very charming environment, its one of the oldest history in Europe that gives all its character to Catalonia. ITINERARY

DISCOVERY TRAIL (contact us for more detailled programme)

It is a faboulous way to experience Catalonia for the first time !
As a dive in the heart of this region, you'll feel like travelling trough the time, with breathtaking panoramas, Besalu, Sant Ferriol and Santa Pau medieval villages, their roman monastries, their walls and cobbled little streets...You'll also visit Girona, the highly historical region capital. But, the main asset of this trail is the two days route within the volcanoes region, one which remain one the most remoted and wild in the whole Europe. You'll ride above San Julia del Mont mountain and in the Santa Pau valley, explore El Torn and El Sallent villages before swiming in rivers.....The volcanic Gorrotxa is a staggering region !

MOUNTAIN TO SEA TRAIL (contact us for more detailled programme)

The first part of this itinerary will lead you up to an alititide of 1.200 m. From there, you'll saty in a very remoted part of Catalonia. This ascent is made through wild nature, you'll follow rocky gorges as a guide, where nice waterfalls are diving. While joining the Ampourdanese plain, you are crossing Boadella forest and take advantage of your situation to admire the faboulous Rosas bay. On this road, marvellous typical villages, roman churches and very comfortable accommodation...The more we are move closer to the seaside the more the paces are getting fast but the 8 kilometers long beach will be the ideal ground for a nice galopp ! On you way back, you'll pass through Besalu, charming villages fullof history at the gate of the Pyrenees.

So this trail should suits perfectly to your needs ! Riding in the medieval villages with their roman churches, crossing the river Fluvia and Ter, we can understang just glancing at the surroundings why so many artists decided to settle there.

We offer you to ride through fragrant thyme and rosemary forest, along river Fluvia in order to reach the inescapable village of Sant Marti de Sesceres, its XIIIth century church and presbytery.
With the Pyrenees mountain as a backdrop, Sant Llorenç de la Lugan's castle seems to revive. You'll continue your trail through the wine- growing region of Albères where vineyard and olive grove are hormoniously mixed, it will be the occasion for you to visit caves and discover the teh local wine.
The Aiguamoll natural reserve where flamingos and other exotic bird colonies is now waiting for us. It's a marvellous path to get to the eastern point of the whole puninsula, the Creus Cape, where a fantastic lunar landscape will atonished you.

CATALONIAN SUMMITS TRAIL (contact us for more detailled programme)

This trail will lead you through one of the nicest Catalonian Pyrenee region, where two types of scenery can be admired. On the one side, you can appreciate the spectacular views the summits are offering, and, on the other hand, the charming Garrotxa forest, where to do energetic galopps. You'll start at the gate of the Pyrenees, running along LLierca river and Fluvia valley. Nice galopps through the plain lead you to Sant Aniol summit, while we are crossing historical villages, and wild flower fields.

CASTLES AND VOLCANOES TRAIL (contact us for more detailled programme)

The exploration of the Garrotxa volcanic valley looks like a trip through time. At every stop of our ride, you meet little mountain villages, medieval castles, abbeys, and roman churches often hang on the mountainside !
Its also the occasion to discover hide valleys as La Miana or Sant Pau valleys, the eponymous village is a ancient medieval village with great walls and built on a volcanic rock.
Passing in the Garrotxa valley on horse back is the only way to discover such lunar sceneries made of lava, the perfect ground for long trotts and galopps to reach Santa Margarita, the nicest and biggest crater of the region.

Take a few days to come and discover during a week-end the changing Catalonian landscapes, with its mountain villages, medieval castles, abbeys and roman churches...
This itinerary is a pretty good mix of energetic ride, discovery and good time of relaxation.

EXTEND YOUR TRIP

HORSES AND REQUIRED RIDING LEVEL

Horses and tack Horses are especially elected for trails. Execept their natural specificities (kindness and agility), these spanish breed are trained for outdoor riding. Required riding level For this trail you should be confident at all paces and already have an experience of trail riding. A good general physical condition will help you to appreciate these Andalucian trails. Every day, we are approx. five hours in the saddle. Accompanied kids are welcomed from 14 years old, and 16 if they are non accompagnied, if they have a enough riding skills and good physical condition. Maximum weight is 90 kg.

YOUR GUIDES

All the rides are led by professional and experienced staff. After fourteen years old of exprience, their rides are now unique. If we have to focus on three points we would say that security, professionnalism and welcome are the main assets of this team. These horse and nature lover will always be happy to make you discover their beloved region

ACCOMMODATION

The "base camp" is a XIth century farm, renovated as a rural hotel. This charming and warming establishment offer a breathtaking view over the Pyrenees. The balconies and terrasses are perfect to do the most of this view but the swimming pool remain the favorite place to relax. During the trails, rural hotels or inn are carefully selected on three criteria : comfort, character and cuisine.

DATES AND RATES

- Single supplement : 153 € for weekly trail
- Single supplement: 65 € for Week end trail.
Has only to be paid if you're asking a single room.
If you agree to share your room with someone else, you wouldn't have to pay this supplement, even if, you're finally alone on the room.

Barcelona or Girona airport.

Transfers can be organised from these airports.
Barcelona : rendez vous at 06:30pm next to Jamaica café in the arrivals hal of terminal 1.
Girona : rendez vous at 07:30pm in the arrival hall, next to Avis counter.

Transfers has to be arranged at the booking.

Contact your ambassy. For European people, the Identity card is enought.

Vaccination - health
No specific vaccinations. Don't forget your repatriation insurance.
